On this page, we will walk you through changing the oil and filters on an Edwards nES100 single-stage, oil-sealed rotary vane vacuum pump. You will learn how to drain the oil, remove the oil and exhaust filters, clean the relevant components and reassemble the pump. 

Follow safety guidelines

 
  • Switch off the power supply to the pump system before beginning any maintenance.
  • Allow the vacuum pump to cool to a safe temperature. This usually takes approximately one hour.
  • Refer to the instruction manual for the recommended oil type and oil filter.
  • Follow all applicable safety instructions and local maintenance procedures.

Tools and materials required

Tools:

1. Oil collection tray (min. 1.5 L capacity)

2. Strap wrench (for oil filter removal)

3. Clean cloth

4. Vacuum grease

5. Oil filter and exhaust filter

6. Fresh oil

7. Syringe

8. Hose and drain valve
