Driving the Transition to a Low-Carbon Future - Carbon Capture Technology Expo 2025

    NORTH AMERICA | 18 June 2025 | 5 min

Edwards Vacuum is excited be exhibiting at this year’s Carbon Capture Technology Expo, taking place June 25–26, 2025, at the NRG Center in Houston, Texas. As North America’s leading event dedicated to Carbon Capture, Utilization & Storage (CCUS), this gathering brings together technology innovators, engineering firms, energy companies, and industrial leaders to accelerate the transition to a net-zero carbon economy.

Exhibiting at Booth #1127 in the Carbon Capture section of the expo, out booth we’ll be showcasing the critical role that vacuum technology plays in enabling CCUS processes across a wide range of industries.

Why CCUS Matters & How We Contribute

Reducing carbon emissions is one of the most urgent challenges facing industries today. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), carbon capture is a critical technology needed to mitigate climate change and achieve global net-zero targets.

At Edwards, we’ve long supported industrial sectors on their path toward decarbonization by delivering high-performance vacuum solutions that drive efficiency, reliability, and sustainability in CCUS applications.

Vacuum’s Essential Role in Carbon Capture

Whether it’s capturing CO2 directly from the atmosphere or separating it from industrial emissions, vacuum technology is a key enabler of efficient CO2 separation and processing. Here are just a few ways our solutions support the CCUS value chain:

    • Direct Air Capture (DAC) – This process removes CO₂ directly from ambient air using absorption or adsorption techniques, requiring large air volumes to be processed efficiently. Our robust LR Series liquid ring vacuum pumps support continuous DAC operations, with proven material compatibility and scalable designs.
    • Pre-Combustion Capture – In this method, CO₂ is captured from syngas before combustion through gasification and membrane separation or physical absorption. Edwards GXS dry screw vacuum pumps and EH boosters help create the pressure differentials needed for effective CO₂ separation in IGCC and gasification processes.
    • Post-Combustion Capture – CO₂ is captured after fuel combustion by separating it from flue gas using chemical solvents or sorbents, often in retrofitted systems. From vacuum filtration and dewatering to advanced chemical handling, our EDS dry screw pumps and custom-engineered steam ejector systems deliver energy-efficient, low-maintenance performance in flue gas desulphurization and retrofit CO₂ capture applications.
    • Bioenergy with Carbon Capture (BECCS) – BECCS captures CO₂ generated from biomass-based energy production, either through pre-combustion or post-combustion routes, enabling negative emissions. Our large-capacity LR and HR Series liquid ring pumps are ideally suited for handling moisture-laden and chemically challenging streams in biomass-based carbon capture systems.

Across all of these applications, our solutions are engineered for scalability, material compatibility, energy efficiency, and environmental resilience - key factors for success in CCUS installations around the world.
