    Q 1. What kind of vacuum pump maintenance can you perform on-site?

    A- You can perform minor maintenance on your vacuum pumps, such as oil and filter changes, tip-seal replacement, oil tank cleaning, gauge tube changes, and oil cartridge and bearing replacement.

    Our field service technicians can perform certain types of maintenance on-site (modular service etc.)

    However, this does not apply to all our pump types. If your pump is in a very contaminated environment, has already broken down, or requires major service, it is recommended that you send the pump to our workshops by contacting your service representative.

    Q 2. How often should my vacuum pump receive regular maintenance?

    A- This will vary depending on the vacuum pump and its application, but there are certain measures you can take to help keep your pump’s service on track and keep your pump performing well:

    Q 4. Which equipment/tools do I need to perform maintenance on my vacuum pump?

    A- The tools and equipment required for each service can be found in the vacuum pump manual that you would have received with your vacuum pump.

    Q 5. What to do if the vacuum pump is not working?

    A- These are the diagnostic steps we recommend you take. Reach out to our service specialists if you need more support to get your pump up and running again.

    1. Check the power supply
      Make sure all equipment is plugged in and check for blown fuses or tripped circuit brakers.
    2. Inspect all connections
      Make sure all hoses and fittings are securely connected. Look for leaks or broken tubing.
    3.  Inspect the oil level
      Replace or top up the oil in your vacuum pump if it appears dirty or of a low level.
    4. Clean or replace filters
    5. Inspect, clean or replace the inlet and exhaust filters.
    6. Check for blockages or signs of overheating. Especially if your pump stopped working suddenly while in operation. Remove blockages, clean debris or heavy dust before starting your pump.
    7. Consult the manual. The instruction manual specifies troubleshooting steps you can try out.

    Q 6. What can damage a vacuum pump?

    A- However sturdy our vacuum pumps are built, they can be damaged by situations such as:

    1.  Contamination. From dirty vacuum pump oil to ingested particles, wear and tear can damage your pump and cause it to fail.
    2.  Inadequate maintenance. Regular maintenance, including oil and filter changes, keeps your pump in optimal condition. Overdue repairs of smaller issues can lead to major problems.
    3.  Improper usage. Always use your pump for what it has been designed. If you need a heavy-duty vacuum pump, then make sure you choose a technology suitable for your application.
    4.  Running dry. Operating the pump without sufficient lubrication can cause severe damage.
    5.  Electrical issues. Electrical surges can damage the motor and electronic components.
    6. Mechanical stress. Don’t overload your pump: subjecting the pump to loads beyond its capacity can strain and damage it. Also, excessive vibration can loosen components and lead to mechanical failures.
    7.  Chemical exposure. Exposure to corrosive chemicals or unsuitable fluids can damage seals, gaskets, and other components.
