Do you work at ultimate vacuum levels for extended periods of time?

Then our Smart Standby could help reduce your energy consumption!

How does Smart Standy work?

Conventional standby or power-saving modes work by reducing pumping speeds once target vacuum levels have been achieved, which leads to some reduction in power consumption. However, over time this can result in a deterioration of ultimate vacuum, which can compromise performance, and requires dedicated gauges to continuously measure and monitor pressure levels.

Once ultimate pressure has been achieved and recognised by the pump, SmartStandby puts the pump through a special cycle ending up at standby speed.  This not only reduces power consumption, also helps to preserve a good ultimate pressure. The pump will then determine when it needs to repeat the SmartStandby cycle.

Tests have shown that Smart Standby is particularly effective on those applications where ultimate vacuum is deployed over extended periods of time, in some cases reducing consumption in excess of 40%.

To find out if you are eligible ask yourself the following questions:
  • Is your pump one of these models:
    • nXDS6i / nXDS10i / nXDS15i / nXDS20i
    • ALL VARIANTS: i, iC and iR no gas ballast
  • Do you work at ultimate pressure for long periods of time (that is more than xx hours per XX what???)?
  • Was your nXDS pump purchased after 00/0000?

Did you answer ‘yes’ to all the above?

Then it's time for you to complete the form below in order to download the upgrade software!

Once you have the ZIP file:
  • Install it on your nXDS pump via a xx/xx port/USB
  • Smart Standby can then be activated on restarting your pump!

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the projected savings?

The amount of energy saved will correspond directly to the length time your process works at ultimate pressure i.e. the longer time spent ultimate vacuum levels the higher the potential savings. As a guide ultimate pressure would need to be maintained for min xx hours for savings to occur.

Are there some functions / applications smart Standby is not suited to?

Cycling applications with short dwell times at ultimate,  constant throughput applications, with operation pressure greater than xx mbar., including operation on gas ballast.

Can I remove Smart Standby if I change my mind?

Yes, removing Smart Standby can be deactivated.

Will Smart Standby be available on more pumps?

Yes, testing and data collection is currently underway on a number of pumps. Announcements will be made when testing is complete.

Can I upgrade to Smart Standby if my nXDS is part of a TIC Station?

Yes, you can!

My pump is older than 4 years, where do I find information on the latest models if I’m considering replacing them?
