EM Oil Sealed Rotary Vane Pumps
Designed for reliable long term operation
E2M0.7-28 rotary vane pumps - Delivering high ultimate vacuum and rapid pumping speeds
Small EM oil sealed rotary vane pumps are renowned for achieving high ultimate vacuum and rapid pumping speeds with quiet operation and the ability to handle vapour. These pumps have become the industry standard in a range of scientific, laboratory, and light industrial applications, and are the ideal partner for backing your turbomolecular pump.
Industry proven long term reliable performance and compact in design, these oil sealed pumps are free-standing units. Simple installation and operation and for the E2M0.7, 1.5 and 2.5 an alternate side inlet connection port so that overall height can be reduced to a minimum when required. Most single phase versions are equipped with an integral IEC connector and, for the larger pumps, an on/off switch for local control and easy connections to the mains electric supply.
Features & Benefits in a nutshell
- Quiet operation: For a better working environment.
- Flexibility of use: Freestanding unit compact design.
- Reliable performance: Proven in a range of laboratory and industrial applications over many years.
- Gas ballast valve: Used when pumping vapour.
- Built-in protection systems: The motor is enclosed and cooled by the motor-cooling fan which directs the air along the motor fins. Overheating protection is provided via a thermal overload device which is fitted in the motor and switches off the pump if it gets too hot, this will automatically reset when the motor cools down and restarts the pump. No manual intervention is required.
- Easy to maintain: The O-ring sealed sight glass makes visual inspection of the oil level and conditions simple. The oil drain port is located at the end of the oil box for draining oil out of the pump. A large oil filling port and recess in the top of the oil box top makes oil top-ups easy.

Acoustic enclosures
The ideal noise reduction solution for laboratories and industrial areas
Edwards’ acoustic enclosures provide soundproofing for your pump operations in laboratories or sensitive industrial work environments. High noise absorption materials reduce pump noise by up to 9 dB (A), without adversely affecting your vacuum pump efficiency.
Compatible with multiple pumps
Fully compatible with all RV and E2M18/28 rotary vane pumps and the complete range of nXDS and XDS dry scroll pumps, our acoustic enclosures can be used throughout your facility to keep operational noise to a minimum.
Significant noise reduction
The top-shelf noise absorption materials ensure noise reduction of the E2M28 by 7 dB (A) – a significant improvement for sensitive working areas.
Easy to assemble
Our acoustic enclosures are easily assembled or disassembled without complex tooling. A removable front panel enables quick visible access to the oil sight glass.
For E2M18/28 models, a side panel can be quickly removed for access to the oil filter cap.
Ventilation for safe operation
Two integrated air-cooling fans provide ventilation to maintain your optimum pump running temperature.
The enclosure is also supplied with an over-temperature buzzer alarm that comes with battery back-up for added security.
Use the oil finder below to advise you on the correct oil as this can improve your vacuum performance, help with high operating temperatures without oil degradation, so extending intervals between oil changes.
