“We are delighted to bring a range of optimised vacuum pumping technologies to the Touch Taiwan show this year,“ commented V. Rangarajan, Market Sector Manager, Industrial at Edwards. “This demonstrates the range of different solutions which we can offer with the low cost of ownership and environmentally friendly benefits that are so important to our customers”.

On display will be the ES300 single stage rotary vane oil sealed pump, which provides a highly stable vacuum performance, making it ideal for coating and touch panel applications. The optimised oil return system ensures there are none of the pressure fluctuations that are often seen in single stage pumps thus improving product quality and giving consistent process results. The pump mechanism on the new ES pump has been refined to produce a better quality of vacuum whilst maintain pumping speed even at lower pressure and extending the operating pressure range.

The GXS160/1750 dry screw pump and booster combination, also on the stand, incorporates innovative features which contribute to its smooth quiet running, excellent vacuum performance and low running cost. The GXS provides a very stable pumping speed, with reduced pump down times and ultimate vacuum of 5 x 10-4 mbar, which results in improved product quality and increased productivity. With its intelligent control systems the GXS is ideal in coating, lamination and industrial applications, offering automated control of the process where optimum throughput of end products is desired.

Edwards is also highlighting its STP-iXR1606 magnetically levitated turbomolecular pump, with integrated power supply and controller, designed to deliver significant savings for manufacturers of coating systems for display touch panels, flat panel displays and solar panels. The absence of mechanical bearings practically eliminates the cost of periodic maintenance and minimises the downtime. The pump’s design maximises the allowable gas throughput while delivering high vacuum and minimises the number of pumps required for these high flow processes.

The compact iXL120 and IXL1000 series of mid-range dry pumps provide repeatable fast pump down times of smaller chambers with extremely low power consumption. A Green Mode allows reduced utilities usage during idle periods, lowering utility costs and helping to preserve the environment. They are ideal for load locks, lamination and sealing systems and in other touch panel processes and save valuable floorspace.
