Edwards breaks ground on new manufacturing facility in Asan City, Korea

GLOBAL | 26 September 2022 | 3 min

Semiconductor manufacturing is essential to supporting developments across the technology, electronics, automotive, scientific and healthcare sectors. The recent surge in demand has seen widespread investment in global manufacturing capability, and Edwards’ investment in the new Korea facility represents a significant step forward in ensuring the supply chain capacity required to support that growth.

Construction of the state-of-the-art building should be complete by the end of July 2023, with the factory expected to be fully operational during Q3 of 2023.  This new site in Asan City will increase capacity in the manufacture of abatement and liquid delivery systems under both the CSK and Edwards brands. The new facility will also provide additional capacity in the production of Edwards integrated systems for EUV lithography technology, used in the manufacture of the most advanced semiconductor components.

Kate Wilson, President of Edwards’ Semiconductor business, said: “I am delighted that we are breaking ground on our new systems facility in Korea. This year we celebrated both the 25 year anniversary of CSK, and the 30 year anniversary of Edwards Korea Ltd, and I’m very proud of the role both CSK and Edwards Korea have played in the global semiconductor industry over this time. This new investment shows our continued commitment to supporting our customers with their future innovation and the growth in the semiconductor industry in Korea and beyond.”
