XDS scroll pumps contain no oil or grease of any kind anywhere that comes into contact with what its pumping - and grease is still grease even if it’s euphemistically called “solid”. With no bearings in the pumped environment, bearing purges are not required eliminating the risk of back migration of oil and grease when the pump is at very low pressure.
In most cases, if you are using an oil-sealed, diaphragm, piston or even aspirator pump, substituting a similar sized XDS dry scroll pump will mean less maintenance, less mess and a cleaner environment.
